ABOUT JENS & MARIE
Jens and Marie was founded in 2012 in the back of our popular Café Choklad located in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, a hub of colleges and universities. We are constantly feeding hungry students asking for more vegetarian options. What better setting to do nutritious food R & D? Over the past two years we’ve built a strong New England presence in food service. In April 2015, we introduced two retail packages – the Southwest Black Bean & Sweet Potato and the Roasted Beet & Kale Veggie Burger.
Our burgers have become a natural in colleges, universities, health care facilities, business food service, independent restaurants, and restaurant chains on the East Coast.
Our mission as a customer focused company is to develop great tasting innovative products that are vegan and Best in Class. Most of our burgers are also gluten and soy free. Our philosophy is simple…

Jens Retlev – CEO and R&D Chef
Jens is a European trained Chef, restauranteur and entrepreneur. He has owned and operated several successful restaurant concepts, and was Director of Culinary for Au Bon Pain. He developed and manufactured a fresh soup line “Cooks & Butler”, acquired by Blount Fine Foods, and developed and operated an extensive line of condiments, “Wicked Good”, acquired by an investment group. He is the current partner and research and development Chef for Jens & Marie, a line of veggie burgers for food service and retail.
John Narkiewicz – VP Sales Food Service
John’s career spans 40 years in foodservice industry involvement in operators, distribution, brokerage and manufacturing. His responsibilities include business tactics, strategic planning, sales plan development/forecasting, and geographical expansion.
Deb Rainey – Office Manager
Deb has over 30 years of Customer Service and administrative experience, working in the Customer Service or Sales Administrative departments for several well-known companies. She has a foodservice industry background and joined Jens & Marie in April 2014.
